Happy Now Farm has undergone a transformation this year. Organic oats, straw, hay and corn have been harvested. Organic Black Angus cows and calves were pastured on the hillsides. Nearly two miles of new fencing has been installed. The old barn, built in 1911, had reconstructive surgery: new support posts and cables were installed, all boards were renailed and traditional red paint was applied. It was immediately put to work sheltering 1500 bales of organic straw. Our small flock of exotic chickens lay enough eggs to share with friends, and they delight youngsters who come to visit. Duke, our brindle boxer, announces visitors and the barn cat has raised a litter of mousers. Participating in the productivity of the land and animals is a source of great satisfaction to us.
